Grace Vineyard, founded by Mr. Chun-Keung Chan on August 28, 1997, in Taigu County, Shanxi Province, China, has evolved into a distinguished name in the world of wine. The winery's inception was guided by a vision of serenity and excellence, inspired by the tranquil garden Yi Yuan, which symbolizes a place for enjoyment and fine wine. Partnering with Bordeaux oenologist Denis Boubals and French collaborator Sylvain Janvier, Mr. Chan embarked on a journey to craft exceptional wines in the unique continental climate of the Loess Plateau, characterized by its distinctive seasons, dry sandy loam soil, and ample sunshine.
In 2002, leadership of the winery passed to Mr. Chan's daughter, Judy, who had pursued her education in the United States before returning to China. Under her stewardship, Grace Vineyard experienced a renaissance, marked by innovation and growth. Judy's visionary approach infused the winery with new energy, steering it towards a remarkable trajectory. Her efforts were recognized in 2008 when Harvard Business School selected Grace Vineyard's success story as a case study for its MBA program.
The winery's expansion continued with the development of a 1,000-acre vineyard in Ganchengzi, Ningxia, at the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains, in 2012. By 2018, Grace Wine Holdings Limited went public in Hong Kong, transitioning from a family-run enterprise to a publicly listed company. Today, Grace Wine Holdings encompasses Shanxi Grace Vineyard and Ningxia Grace Vineyard for grape cultivation and winemaking, along with Fujian Dexi Winery for spirits production.
With over two decades of dedication, Grace Vineyard has established itself as a benchmark among Chinese boutique wineries, celebrated for its commitment to quality and sustainable development. Notable achievements include the collaboration with world-renowned Bodega Torres to create the white wine “Symphony” in 2008 and the introduction of “Deep Blue” as the first Chinese wine served in the first and business class of Cathay Pacific Airways in 2009. Grace Vineyard's journey reflects a blend of tradition and innovation, positioning it as a leading figure in the global wine landscape.
