Domaine Jolivet, nestled in the picturesque Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, is a rising gem within the renowned Saint-Joseph appellation. Established in 2014 by Bastian Jolivet and his father, the domaine was born from a desire to create exceptional wines from their 10 hectares, previously sold to a local cooperative. Bastian, who gained invaluable experience through internships in notable regions like Condrieu, New Zealand, and South Africa, quickly made a name for himself. His wines earned the prestigious Grand Prix “Discovery of the Year 2020” from the Review of the Wine of France, highlighting his impact as a new winemaker.

The vineyard is committed to sustainable practices, with two-thirds managed organically, while Bastian strives for complete organic certification. The estate features mostly Syrah, with Marsanne and a small quantity of Roussanne, grown on steep granite hillsides that create unique microclimates. Bastian is particularly intrigued by the genetic diversity of his vines, suspecting some may actually be Serine.

Winemaking at Domaine Jolivet reflects traditional Rhône methods, with separate vinification for each plot. Spontaneous fermentations take place in a combination of 228-liter barrels and 600-liter demi-muids, where the wines are aged and blended before bottling. The focus on minimal intervention—using whole clusters and keeping SO2 levels low—results in wines that showcase incredible lift, depth, and character. With a dedication to quality and tradition, Domaine Jolivet is positioned at the forefront of a new generation of innovative Rhône winemakers.
